Made with whole walnuts, picked while still in soft green hull, with the addition of syrup, flavoured with cloves and vanilla, make this a truly unique dessert experience. This may well become a favourite accompaniment to your tea routine or substitute honey and flavoured syrups in your morning yoghurt or cereal.
A number of recent nutritional researches claim that walnuts can prevent circulatory and heart diseases and reduce the risk of some cancers. Walnut is an excellent source of omega-3 essential fatty acids and helps to lower total, as well as LDL (‘bad’ cholesterol) in the blood. Rich in vitamin E (gamma-tocopherol), which prevents aging of skin cells and oxidizing processes in the body, walnut can also give you B vitamins, and some trace minerals, such as manganese, copper, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and selenium.
